Went to Portomaso marina in summer 2013 with the intention of leaving our sailboat there for a year, left after a month with a great sense of disappointment and disgust. Been visiting Marinas for 25 years and this was our worst experience. Portomaso is in reality more of a toy marina, whose purpose is to provide a view for the expensive apartment complex above. Few people sleep on their boats. At the marina, you are told you cannot use your own plank, there are cockroaches in the toilets, you cannot use the facilities on your boat, you cannot leave your tender in the water, you are packed like sardines, and the Harbour master himself, one of the most obnoxious people ever met, will himself throw your belongings into the water if you leave them on the pontoon. Moreover, any visit for information at the marina offices, will provide you with vague answers for the benefit of having you use the adjacent 'Boatcare' office which will act as middle man and overcharge you for anything, including laundry. Boatcare by the way, belongs to the son of the harbourmaster. Our boat was also damaged by another boat while we were away, the berth assistant failed to inform us, and the culprits never helped with their insurance. never ever again.
